Representatives of “Lufthansa” have announced that access to Internet on board the planes of the airline will be resumed in the second middle of 2010. Jointly with Japanese company “Panasonic” the airlines are planning to start a new service “ExConnect” which gives for the passengers and the crew an opportunity to get access to Internet.
During the flight the passengers will be allowed to use mobile and smart phones for exchanging text messages, data transmission and looking through web-pages. The access to Internet could be payed with credit cards remitting certain sum of money to the airline or to their provider.
“Lufthansa” is going to re-equip the most of the airpark with access to Internet within the first year of work. Wolfgang Mayrhuber, the Chairman and General Director of the airline considers: “With a view to service lines, the clients of “Lufthansa” can count on the most qualitative services during the flight. As for long distance flights, we can offer the business travelers specifically range of communicational facilities comparable to those provided in the best hotels and specialized Internet access points”.
